Kathleen Hale and Mitchell Brown, professors in the Department of Political Science and directors of the Election Administration Initiative, were highlighted in the most recent issue of The Canvass for their newly published book, “How We Vote: Innovation in American Elections.”

The Canvass is a publication of the National Conference of State Legislatures, or NCSL, and is sent to members of all state legislatures and their staff. Hale and Brown have recently been co-hosting a series of webinars on the subject, and Hale was also featured on National Public Radio talking about the challenges of state elections during the COVID-19 pandemic.

NCSL, founded in 1975, represents the legislatures in the states, territories and commonwealths of the United States. Its mission is to advance the effectiveness, independence and integrity of legislatures and to foster interstate cooperation and facilitate the exchange of information among legislatures.

According to The Canvass, Hale’s and Brown’s book is well-researched, grounded in lessons from high-profile elections and a relief to read in these fiery times.
