Auburn's College of Architecture, Design and Construction, or CADC, will dedicate the Robins & Morton Construction Field Laboratory on Wednesday, March 4, at 10 a.m. The field laboratory, located on Auburn’s campus at 1160 West Samford Avenue, is a facility of the McWhorter School of Building Science in the CADC and was built thanks to a generous gift from the construction firm Robins & Morton.

The laboratory includes a classroom, concrete pads and indoor and outdoor bays where students can gain hands-on learning experience. The lab will primarily be used by the Building Construction service learning course, in which students work in teams to solve problems for local non-profits and for OSHA safety training courses.

Auburn and CADC leadership, faculty and students will join representatives from Robins & Morton in celebrating and dedicating the new facility.

“The field lab is a teaching and research facility that allows our students and faculty to experience the full range of construction management, including building assemblies in full scale and testing new construction materials and processes,” said CADC Dean Vini Nathan. “We are thrilled that this facility is the first and only one of its kind in the U.S., which gives our students a distinct advantage in the competitive building construction industry.”
