Auburn University Symphonic Winds performing concert on March 2

The Auburn University Symphonic Winds ensemble, featuring Jeremy Samolesky from the Department of Music, is presenting “Rhapsody in Blue” at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. This performance is a special preview of the program that will be performed in Biloxi, Mississippi, for the American Bandmasters Association Conference on on March 4. The ensemble will be performing works by Giuseppe Verdi, Raymond Wetherhold, Julie Giroux, Johnnie Vinson, George Gershwin and Richard Wagner. Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for children and Auburn University students with their student ID. 

Symphonic Winds is the premier wind and percussion ensemble at Auburn University, under the direction of Rick Good, director of bands and chair of the Department of Music. The ensemble is comprised of 63 instrumentalists who come from 27 different degree programs within Auburn University. The ensemble has performed at the College Band Director’s National Association Southern Division Conference, the Alabama Music Educators Association Conference, as well as the American Bandmasters Association Conference. The Symphonic Winds tour the Southeastern United States annually and has recently completed international tours in China and Italy. This May the ensemble is planning a ten-day concert tour of Portugal and Spain.
