At its main event on Feb. 15, AUDM announced it had raised $354,682 for Piedmont Columbus Regional. Students also met families treated at the hospital and participated in games and dancing.
Auburn’s AUDM chapter is one of more than 300 chapters nationwide. Students involved in a campus dance marathon organization spend a year gainin g leadership, teamwork and nonprofit business experience while raising funds and awareness for their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
Current and former patients of Piedmont Columbus Regional, known as “Miracle Kids,” were at the main event to share their stories of pediatric illness with more than 400 AUDM participants.
“The money that we raised will be going toward our $2 million pledge to finish the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” said Jack Schwartz, president of AUDM. “Main event continues to be an amazing and life-changing event that makes a lasting impact on not only the staff members and the participants, but also the families that we tirelessly fundraise for.”
To date, AUDM has raised more than $3 million and has won six awards at the national Miracle Network Dance Marathon level as well as many other awards and recognition for involvement and leadership on Auburn’s campus.
“AUDM will continue to share our passion with Auburn's campus and allow the student body to continue to help us make miracles happen in the lives of our Miracle Kids,” said Schwartz.
