Abby Langham, director of assessment and strategic planning, was awarded the Region III Outstanding Service Award at the NASPA-AL Drive-In Conference on Jan. 21.

The Outstanding Service Award recipient exemplifies the spirit of volunteerism as it applies to NASPA at the state, regional or national level. The nominee should have a record of involvement in Region III, which may include active committee membership, board membership, conference presentation or volunteer service.

Langham, who has served NASPA-AL for two terms as the state director, was described by their nominator as someone who has worked to bring leadership, organization and accountability to the board thus reviving it and paving the way for membership and Drive-In attendance growth, a refreshed NASPA-AL brand, a clear understanding of roles for board members, better communication to members and expanded options for professional development opportunities to members throughout the state.

Her service reaches beyond her role in NASPA as she is a servant leader who focuses on mentorship through lasting relationships. Her work on the NASPA-AL Board of Directors also includes having served as chair-elect and as a member-at-large. She regularly presents at the NASPA-AL Drive-In Conference, including presenting at the former NASPA-AL New Professionals Institute and at other state, regional and national-level higher education conferences.
