Auburn University hosting event to discuss adapting in era of digital fabrication

Sarina Sun, pictured above, has good reason for helping organize a Digital Fabrication Symposium for Designers, Makers, Users and Educators Feb. 20-21 at Auburn University.

"There's an urgent need to bridge industry and academia, bringing them closer in this time of advanced technology emergence," said Sun, an assistant professor of apparel in the Department of Consumer and Design Sciences in Auburn's College of Human Sciences. [Read more]

Regions Bank establishes Auburn University endowed professorships in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences

Two professors in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn University are the first to receive new endowed professorships established by Regions Financial Corporation.

Associate Professor Brian Via is the Regions Professor in Forest Products, and Professor Tom Gallagher is the Regions Professor in Forest Operations, Utilization, Management and Economics. [Read more]

Auburn’s McDaniel, Bancroft competing for James Beard’s Best Chef South

Two of Auburn's own are once again among the region's top chefs vying for the title of Best Chef South.

Rob McDaniel, above left, a 2002 alumnus of the Hotel and Restaurant Management program in Auburn University's College of Human Sciences, and David Bancroft, above right, owner and executive chef of Acre in Auburn, who attended the Harbert College of Business, are among 20 semifinalists vying for the James Beard Foundation Award, Best Chef South. Auburn students meet with governor and state officials at annual Lobby Day

Auburn's SGA Lobby Board met with Alabama's governor, lieutenant governor and state officials to discuss issues related to higher education as part of the annual SGA Lobby Day on Thursday, Feb. 16, at the state's capitol in Montgomery.

The Lobby Board, a branch of SGA's cabinet, consists of 30 Auburn students with a passion for local and state politics as well as a desire to lobby for more funding for Auburn University. [Read more]

Consul general of Haiti visited Auburn University

Faustin Lebon, consul general of Haiti in Atlanta, and Reginald Michel, economic officer of Haiti in Atlanta, met with Associate Provost Royrickers Cook on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The visit was the latest in a series of visits from international dignitaries and is part of a strategic plan to enhance education by providing more international experiences for students. During this visit, the consul general also met with students, faculty, staff and administrators.
