Second 'Spring into Mell' workshop set for Feb. 21-22

The Biggio Center’s second Spring into Mell workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 21 and Wednesday, Feb. 22. This four-part interactive workshop series will prepare Auburn faculty and GTA’s to teach in the new Mell/Ralph Brown Draughon Library Engaged in Active Student Learning or EASL classrooms. The workshops will be in 246 Foy Hall.

This workshop will teach faculty and GTA's how to use active learning furniture strategically to achieve student learning outcomes that go beyond content and how to create and maintain teams for collaborative and team-based learning. [Read more]

Auburn University prepares for second Tiger Giving Day Feb. 21

Auburn University will host its second Tiger Giving Day, a 24-hour university-wide crowdfunding initiative, on Feb. 21. TigerGiving.org will highlight more than 20 unique projects from Auburn’s colleges, schools and units that are seeking private support.

With goals ranging from $1,600 to $30,000, these projects include a variety of initiatives that benefit students, research and outreach programs. Among these are opportunities to fund study abroad and internship experiences for students, provide programs with the latest technology like 3D printers and assist the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art’s effort to purchase an outdoor sculpture. Auburn Oaks at Toomer’s Corner being replaced this weekend

Auburn University will remove the current Auburn Oaks at Toomer's Corner and replace them with two new live oaks Saturday morning, Feb. 18.

"The fire in September severely damaged the Magnolia Avenue tree," said Gary Keever, Auburn University horticulture professor. "The appearance of the tree is unacceptable, and we don't believe it will recover within a reasonable time period." [Read more]

The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center will erect a marquee to accommodate events and meetings during the hotel’s upcoming renovation of the conference center.

The hard-sided structure will serve as a temporary – and comfortable – venue for events and meetings during the ballroom area renovation, which was approved by the Auburn University Board of Trustees earlier this month. [Read more]
