Nearly 4,500 students attended the First Year Convocation, enjoying their first War Eagle fight song, Alma Mater, Creed reading and more together as the freshmen class of 2010. The first official event held in the new Auburn Arena, convocation, Latin for "calling together," included remarks by President Jay Gogue, Provost Mary Ellen Mazey, Vice President for Student Affairs Ainsley Carry and others. In addition, the pep band, cheerleaders and Aubie were joined by men's basketball coach Tony Barbee and women's basketball coach Nell Fortner in welcoming incoming students to the Auburn Family.
